Episode 1: Aired: 7th October 2007
Introduction: Jeremy introduced the series by showing a sneak preview of the forthcoming episodes.
Main Review: Clarkson reviewed the Volkswagen Golf GTI W12 Concept. He says it's been rushed in eight weeks, constructed out of parts from other VW owned models and as a result, most onboard electronics do not work and it "cannot go round corners". He also comments he finds the idea of a 600+ HP VW Golf rather ridiculous. The Stig (whom in this episode was referred to as 'Cuddles') posts a lap time of 1:29.6.
News: The three presenters disc uss the Top Gear arson, blaming Fifth Gear presenters for starting it. They also point out the "new" furniture in the studio, as the old equipment got caught in the fire. Richard and James introduce the new Supercars showcased across the year, while Jeremy rants about new rules banning smoking cigarettes while driving.
Star in a reasonably priced car: Dame Helen Mirren is the first guest star of this series and posts a time of 1:52.8 in the Chevrolet Lacetti.
The Cool Wall: Richard and Jeremy talk about the burnt down Cool Wall, then try to familiarize themselves with some burnt leftovers of car stickers that were once on the board. The segment ends with Richard saying the old cool wall is useless, which points out the possibility of a replacement wall used in the upcoming episodes.
Challenge: The presenters each took a light-weight supercar to Mainland Europe to find the best driving road in the world that provides a grueling grip test and a rush of adrenaline together with beautiful driving scenery. Jeremy drove a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Richard a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and James an Aston Martin V8 Vantage N24.

Introduction: Jeremy and Richard introduce the show by bickering about the properties of the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8.
Main Review: Jeremy reviews the Audi R8, Audi's new supercar. Richard Hammond makes an appearance in his own Porsche 911 Carrera S for a quarter-mile drag race, which, after confirming through a slow motion re-play, Hammond won. The Stig posts a 1:26.2 lap time in the Porsche 911 and a 1:24.4 lap time in the Audi R8. Hammond eventually admits that the Audi is the better car.
News: The team found, on the internet, a Porsche design website, where they found 'for the Porsche enthusiast', a specially designed pipe. Jeremy almost swallows his (he put the wrong end in his mouth as it is 'a Porsche and the hot bit goes at the back'), but May was quite at home with a pipe and the new chairs.
Star in a reasonably priced car: Jools Holland is the star in a reasonably priced car. He posts a time of 1:49.9.
Challenge: The amphibious cars make a return as the team are challenged to take them across the Channel. Jeremy in the new 'Nissank' pickup with a Honda outboard motor, Hammond in his Volkswagen Vanagon 'Dampervan' and May's Triumph Herald sailboat. All three are updated with more additions including a detactable sail for May's sailboat and foam for Hammond and Clarkson. All three start to worry as they realise the extent of the task ahead. During the trip to Dover, Hammond and Clarkson's cars start to smoke and catch fire, while May's emits a buzzing sound... and starts to smoke. The decide to wait until the next day to launch. May's car sinks, but he repairs it and they all re-launch two hours later. May doesn't leave the harbour, so Clarkson goes to rescue him. The waves damage Hammond's steering, and two cruise liners almost collide with them. Hammond and May are towed back. On the third attempt, the next day, Hammond's craft sinks along with May who had become the cabin boy. All three reconvene on the coast, and set off in Clarkson's Nissan. They then decide to break Richard Branson's previous record, which they quickly fail to do. The 'Nissank' begins to sink, but they manage to get to France, albeit not in Calais where they had planned, but in Sangatte. They evaluate that they have been 'Ambitious, but Rubbish!.'
